Interested in getting your skydiving certification? You may be surprised to learn that there is more than one way to learn how to solo skydive. With plenty of skydiving courses out there, what is the difference? We’ve got a one-of-a-kind program here at Skydive Paraclete XP that we are super proud of – let’s get into what sets our specifically-designed solo skydiving program apart!
PSP: Paraclete Student Program

HOW CAN I GET MY SKYDIVING CERTIFICATION?

In order to get your skydiving certification, you’ll need to complete a prescribed set of requirements to achieve a USPA (United States Parachute Association) ‘A’ License. Many dropzones offer a skydiving first jump course or a learn to skydive program for those looking to get their skydiving license. And while not all programs are the same, ALL programs from USPA-member dropzones must at least follow the USPA ISP (Integrated Student Program) guidelines. You just have to do a bit of research to find the one that is best for you!

Requirements for a USPA A License:

  • 25 jumps
  • 5 successful skydives with one or more people
  • Completed USPA A License Proficiency Card
  • Official A License stamp
  • Pass the USPA written/oral exam

WHAT IS AFF SKYDIVING?

AFF, or Accelerated Freefall, is a common and efficient method of progression for those looking for skydiving lessons. The AFF program includes six to eight hours of classroom-based skydiving training, followed by several jumps with assistance from instructors. First you jump with two instructors, then one, and then they support you from the ground while you solo skydive.

During the program, you learn about the skydiving equipment, aircraft procedures, exit procedures, and freefall, deployment, canopy control, and emergency procedures. You progress through each training level, learning new skills and developing stability as you go.

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF AFF?

The cost of AFF skydiving varies from dropzone to dropzone, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000. This price includes your ground course, all requisite jumps (not necessarily including rejumps if needed), your check dive, and all necessary equipment.

WHAT IS PSP?

PSP, or the Paraclete Student Program, is an elite USPA-approved student progression program that has been strategically designed by Skydive Paraclete XP to produce highly-competent and confident skydivers.

A major differentiating factor about our program is the incorporation of our onsite wind tunnel, Paraclete XP (more on that later). Between our state-of-the-art training facilities, world-class instructors, and unique and comprehensive approach, we are reputed to have one of the best and most effective skydiving schools in the US.

PSP encompasses ground training, wind tunnel training, and a series of 18 jumps. Each jump includes pre-jump ground training and a full one-on-one video debrief with a highly-experienced instructor after landing.

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF PSP?

PSP is competitively priced and has a lot more to offer than a standard AFF course! PSP costs $3,576 and includes your ground course, 15 minutes of tunnel time, PSP levels 1-18, 7 ‘A’ License jumps, and top-of-the-line skydiving equipment. Skydive Paraclete XP even offers a discounted prepay option that saves $400!

AFF VS. PSP

It seems like AFF and PSP are pretty similar, so what sets PSP apart from AFF?

The Wind Tunnel

For starters, PSP gets students jumping and progressing on their own faster than a traditional AFF. Why? Well, that’s because PSP includes 15 minutes of tunnel time in our very own wind tunnel located just 15 minutes from the dropzone.

Before a PSP student makes a jump, they get a taste of what it will feel like in freefall in an environment that is more accommodating to mistakes. This provides students with a chance to practice bodyflight skills without the added pressure of everything that comes with jumping out of an airplane more than two miles up!

Not only is our wind tunnel a priceless learning tool and a significant contributor to accelerated progression, it also allows our program to be more cost-effective. With improved bodyflight awareness skills, our students demonstrate a higher rate of success and therefore, pass through PSP levels fairly quickly without having to repeat jumps.

As a member of the Canadian National 8-way skydiving team, we have trained at many DZs over the years. By far, we have never been treated as well at any other drop zone in the world. This is our new go to DZ. Cannot say enough good things about this operation!!!
