Skydiving Certification, Turbocharged

Friday, April 20, 2018

It’s that time of year again! Time to get your skydiving certification!

We’re gearing up over here at Skydive Paraclete XP to launch our Paraclete Student Progression program again this month – April 20, 2018. This isn’t your usual skydiving certification program. In one of those numbers you graduate with an A-license stamp in your logbook and more questions than answers about what happens next. In our PSP, you’ll become a skydiver through one of the most comprehensive skydiving certification programs in the country.

The kicker is that you can get your solo skydiving certification in as few as 8 training jumps and 17 consolidation jumps. Cool, huh? We’ve designed a tried-and-true program that tailors each training jump to equip you with the skills you need to be a successful skydiver. You will be safely and stably comporting yourself through the wild blue yonder as you operate all of the equipment, and deal with any possible situation that might occur.

We use all the tricks at our behest towards this goal: a fleet of mighty aircraft, a state-of-the-art vertical wind tunnel and an instructional staff of the best skydiving athletes in the world. Here’s how it all fits together:

Welcome To Camp Wannajump – Your Skydiving Certification One-Stop

We’ve set up the PSP kinda like a weekend summer camp. This allows you to dive deep into the process, sweetly undistracted by the landlubber world. (It helps.) You’ll spend Friday evening with your fellow skydiving students, taking First Jump Course ground training in our comfortable classroom. On Saturday morning, you’ll head over for wind tunnel training – and then you’ll make your first solo skydive!

All of this conspires to get you what we are certain is the highest educational return in the world on skydiving certification cost. It’s an investment in yourself that you’ll be enjoying the benefits of for a long, happy skydiving career.

This whole arsenal is pointed at one goal: to get your USPA ‘A’ license, the solo skydiving certification which qualifies you to jump solo and without supervision (and to learn new skills as you make your way up through the ranks of the sport). Here’s how it plays out:

Friday Evening: Skydiving Ground School

Instruction on the ground is a vital aspect of any skydiving certification program, and ours is no exception. This is a 4-5 hour course, designed to deliver all the theory and practical training you need to confidently make your first solo jump.

Saturday Morning: Wind Tunnel Training

Here’s where it gets really unique to the Paraclete XP learn-to-skydive program: Our pride and joy, the vertical wind tunnel. On Saturday morning, you’ll enjoy your first taste of free fall – except it’ll be without the variables of a standard skydive. It’ll be in the big glass tube that our founders built as a training tool (and man, is it awesome). Plus, learning the foundations of body flight in the wind tunnel will significantly accelerate your progression towards skydiving certification, reducing the stress and overwhelm of your first solo skydive.

Saturday Afternoon: Real Life Free Fall!

Now that you’ve done all your book-readin’ and learned how to control your body in the relative wind, you’re ready to make your first jump! One of our highly experienced instructors will do some close-up, personal coaching as you make your way to opening altitude. They will also hold on to you during free fall.

With the inclusion of wind tunnel training and coaching from world-class instructors, students typically graduate our PSP program with the same level of confidence and abilities as skydivers with hundreds of jumps. Students will master critical flight skills, like tracking and leg turns. Also, you will have the opportunity to participate in a 4-way dive during the program! From there, you’ll be off and running, with skills in the bank, friends in the sport, and mentors around you to help you stride forward.

Not bad for a single weekend, right?

As a member of the Canadian National 8-way skydiving team, we have trained at many DZs over the years. By far, we have never been treated as well at any other drop zone in the world. This is our new go to DZ. Cannot say enough good things about this operation!!!
